Caesar Chavez Day

No school today!!! It was nice we got this day off but I don't think we should as he didn't do anything special to us. But I was happy.

Started the dinosaur project and just about finished it this morning

Mayfair forfeited the match today as they were a no show so it was like practice for us playing at Lakewood.

Will have back to back 4 day weeks, this week and next week (Friday off due to Good Friday)

Mi cumpleanos es en 15 days, the 14th of April.

Tomorrow 1 year anniversary of Joyson. It will be emotional.

Upcoming few weeks

Yay!!! There's no school tomorrow. Caesar Chavez Day and I think we are the only district that have today off. So an extra day to rest and relax but I have to meet with my Bio group for the dinosaur project plus have a match in the afternoon. So I will be busy tomorrow.

I feel so lucky today. I got a free pair of Golf shoes from Big 5. They forgot to scan that item as they only checked through it so we got to save 30 bucks. Not bad. And I wear size 13...It's big cuz its a different type of shoe with spikes on it. So I will wear it tomorrow when I play and see how it is.

March 31st, this Tuesday, is coming up soon. IT is an important day. The one year anniversay of Joyson Szu, who passed away that morning 2008. He battled leukimia for over a year, getting it in March 2007. I was really saddened from this as he was the same age as me and we had been together for quite some time in boy scout. He always had the positive attitude. After getting diagonsed with leukemia in 07, he underwent massive treatment. It worked but they tried this new treatment on him. I don't think it failed as he ended suffering. I recieved email updates constantly on his situation. I even went to go visit him on January 27, 2008 in his house. Talked to him about things and he seemed really positive. That turned out to be a sad day. So this Tuesday, I will be honoring Joyson.

I have my Spring Break planned out. With my Boy Scouts Troop, we will be going to Grand Canyon National Park for a backpacking trip. It will be a 5 day trip as we will be driving there one day (it takes over 7 hours) and then one day down the Canyon to the Colorado River and 2 days up and one day back. IT will be long and challenging but I am ready for it. My birthday will be the second to last day of the trip but I will celebrate it one day late on the 15th of April when I get back. I will be sure to take lots of pictures as it will be a lifetime memory. It will be fun. Grand Canyon is coming up in a few weeks and I will start getting ready now.

Again, no school tomorrow I am happy.

Bike Ride

Well today, I went on a bike ride. Started at Liberty Park and went onto the San Gabriel River Trail. We rode 15 miles up the river to Whittier Narrows and then back. So it's about 30 miles total. While riding, it was like driving in a car on a street with two lanes. I crossed over some bikes and it was fun. I figured out my gear switching and all the other way to make biking easier. MY legs were extremely soar after the ride. O boy it felt good. I also got may face tanned.

I got some new glasses today. They look funny but is the fashion these days. I only wear glasses during night and morning so it doesn't matter.

There was a blackout today. It was Earth Hour as in my house, we turned off all the lights. It was nice saving energy with the lights. So my house was all dark from 8:30to 9:30 although we had candles lit. It kinda looked as though someone had died and there was a candlelight vigil.

Last year on this day, went to the Lakers-Grizzlies game. They lost by 3 as Lakers shot a team record 45 three point attempts. Kobe gave us a show as he scored 53 points. Pau Gasol did not play so it was too bad.

Mi musica favorito

Monday, we have the day off due to Caesar Chavez Day. It's a brand new holiday. I think we are the only school district to have that off. My cousins have school on Monday. So a three day weekend I can relax.

I feel like talking about music. My favorite songs right now are Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond), This is L.A. (The Briggs), If You're Out There (John Legend)and other songs. Sweet Caroline, I heard that song when I went to a Boston Red Sox Game last May and just fell in love with taht song.
This is L.A. is a high pitched song, as it talks about L.A. obviously. I heard it on a LA Kings commercial on FS West.
If You're Out There, I heard it on the halftime show of 2009 NBA All-Star game in Phoenix. It is a pretty good song regarding you, people helping out.

Lakers are 4-0 on this road trip after beating Nets 103-95. Can the Lakers lose? I don't think so. They will go 7-0 on this road trip and make history. 58 wins so far with 10 games left. Lakers can win at least 65 games this season.

18 more days til I turn 15.

My Country is...

I found out my country, committee, and topic for next month's Huntington Beach MUN Conference. It was a suprise. I got the country of Iraq in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). My two topics are Safety of Nuclear Material and Iranian Nuclear Program. It will be fun but it will be a big country, since I'm in a country that isn't really stable yet and it is close to Iraq. Well I know a few people that are gonna be in my committee so it should be a great one. I am up to the challenge and will have to start reseaching now. Gotta do positon paper soon...

Lakers shrugged off a sloppy first half to beat the Detroit Pistons 92-77. Lakers are 57-14 this seasona and 3-0 on this 7 game road trip. They should go 7-0 on this road trips. All the games are winnable. Kobe played great again, almost triple double. Finally the Lakers won a game in Detroit. I remember in the 2004 NBA Finals when Lakers lost to Detroit, I was crying in that last game and had to go outside and take a walk to lessen my emotions. It was really heartbreaking as that 2004 team was supposed to be a dream team. Everything was good until they fell apart late in the Finals. Lakers probably will win championship this season.

I'm in 6th period PE the rest of the week as we have nothing for golf. Today, we learned dancing and it was quite intersting. We did the Virgnia Real. It's all boys in the class so it we had to accept it. But it was fun. The Bio test I took today, I think I did okay. I knew the stuff except I got the Human Genome Project thing wrong. The last two outline probelms was tough but I think I got it. I have confidence and faith in myself.

BTW, Here is the video of our World War I Project. Please give me your feedback.

Biology Test tomorrow

Happy Birthday Cameron!!! It's my cousin's 15th b-day. Mine is coming up in less than 3 weeks, the 14th of April.

I have to study for bio right now for genetic engineering. I am tired though so probably will wake up really early like at 5 of 5:30 to study.

Last Night and Today

Last night was the World Baseball Classic Final. And yet, it was a classic final before 53,000 at Dodger Stadium as it was Korea vs. Japan. In 10 innings, Japan defeated Korea 5-3. Ichiro had many big clutch hits which really propelled Japan. There was so much nationalism with the crowd last night as the Koreans and Japanese fans kept chanting back and forth. All of my Korean friends today were all angry that Korea lost. I watched practically the whole game as mi padres watched the two Asian countries play. My friend who went to the game got back at 2 cuz of traffic. LOL. It was a classic.

This week will be free for me now. Only 2 matches this week, today and yesterday as we have next three days off. I will be in 6th period PE with my basketball buddies the next three days. It's good as I have a Bio and SPanish test on Thursday. Can study today and tomorrow. That's good

Went to ABC School Board today as my english teacher invited me to go tell the Board about my thoughts about Three Cups of Tea. I feel it is a great book and was inspired and motivated from it. The struggles he went through led him to where he is today.

Lakers blew out Oklahoma City Thunder again 107-89. 56-14, LA will probably win 65 games this season. Long day today.

Soreness

I'm so sore right now. Yesterday, took a 10 mile day hike up in the mountains on the Gabrileno Trail near Arcadia. It started mostly uphill until we reached Mt. Zion then it was all easy. Mostly downhill after that. Had lunch at Spruce Grove Campground and then hiked down. Hiked 2.5 miles in about 1 hour. Good thing we didn't have to stay overnight as that was original plan until forecast of rain.My shoulder and hips and feet are pretty sore. HAd to hike in full backpacking gear.

I started reading "Animal Farm" yesterday. That book is an interesting book so far. About animals on a farm having a successful rebellion against farm owner (kind of fantasy). Now, there is some trouble on the farm with the leader kind of being too much overpowering. It relates to the history we have learned.

Almost done with the WWI Project as we met up today. We practically finished editing the video and the commercials looks great. Will post video once we finish and turn it in. Only have to do storyboard now.

Watched teh WBC semifinal today, USA vs. Japan. It will be Japan and South Korea tomorrow nite at Dodger Stadium. Nice matchup for championship game.

Relaxing

I can finally relax now after I took my math and english vocab test both today. I studied for a long time last night after watching the Lakers game in which they won. 7 game road trip now. It will be a true test of the Lakers toughness and how well they play on the road, majority against sub-.500 team...

Participated in the Team Building Contest at school this evening. I teamed up with Mike and Julian. We had to build this thing taht would shoot a ping pong ball. It was fun yet was really tough in trying to build it. When we shot it, it went high in the air and then back down. But I still got 5 points extra credit though. That's the good part.

Not going on overnight backpacking trip this weeekend as it became day hike with rain looming on Sunday. That's nice. I finished mostly all my hwk already.

Have to wake up early tomorrow. good night...

Tired

I'm so tired right now. Walked 2 miles as we played on the long and big Navy Golf Course vs. Los Al. We got killed. That course was really hard. Every hole was into the wind. IT was hard!!! League starts tomorrow. That's when it all counts. I'm gonna go to sleep now and study tomorrow. Good night.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

St Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day today!!! I did good in my match, shooting a 45 as we beat Downey 201-214. But it was unlucky for the Lakers as Andre Iguadola sank a GW three at buzzer as 76ers beat Lakers 94-93. The Gandhi movie isn't bad. It really shows that Indian life was tough back then under British rule. Gandhi was like Martin Luther King Jr., the Indian version. Math class was so fun as it was only us freshmen as sophmores were taking CAHSEE. Short blog today. I'm tired. Los Al tomorrow. Good night.

Selection Sunday

Yesterday, I heard on the radio that former Lakers player and Clippers GM Eligin Baylor was coming to Sears today from 1-2:30 for an autograph signing session. So I decided to go. I got a number 241 as I waited in line with other autograph seekers. I was gonna have him sign this paper with pictures of it and a Lakers T-shirt, which I had autographs from Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar, Kareem Rush, and Mitch Kupcheck (Lakers GM). I waited for about 90-100 minutes before Baylor left. So I did not get his autograph but it was a great experience. In January 2008, Jordan Farmar had an autograph signing session at Living Spaces and I went. I got his autograph and took a picture with him. I am an autograph collector.

Yesterday, I went to a restaurant in San Gabriel that Lakers G Sun Yue went to a few days ago. That is pretty cool.

Lakers beat Mavericks 107-100. Nice team effort as Kobe, Pau, and Ariza all scored 20+ points. I noticed the Lakers had a brand new scoreboard on the backboard. They have the kind which the fans can see better. Not bad. The Lakers are making improvements to their home court. CLippers finally won a game as they won on Steve Novak's buzzer beater 107-105 over the NJ Nets.

It's time for me to fill out my brackets for this year's NCAA Tournament. The bracket came out today. It's March Madness now...

Rewrite the History Book

Friday the 13th...
It's suppose to be an unlucky day for people when things don't come out the way its suppose to. But I felt the inverse of it, I felt great and lucky today. While playing the back nine holes at Heartwell, I shot my personal best 36, that's 9 over par. Boy I have really regained my stroke back. A few weeks ago, I couldn't hit for anything but today, I used my 9 iron on every single hole. I can hit with that about 100 yards. I got 2 pars, 5 four strokes, and 2 five strokes. 36 today. I teed off at 4:26 PM. Just to add a note to that, when I teed off at 4:26 PM June 27, 2008, I shot a then record 41. So I should tee off at 4:26 more in the future.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

What a college basketball game it was in New York that just ended. It took 6 overtimes for Syracuse Orange to beat UCONN Huskies 127-117. 6 overtimes, that is incredible for a college game. Man, those players must be tired. The game took over 3 hours and 40 minutes...

Lakers are going to the playoffs (its official) as they clinched the weak Pacific Division Title by beating the San Antonio Spurs 102-95. It was a great complete game by the Lakers as they led by 18 but it got down to 2, but Lakers kept answering back everytime the Spurs made a run. Another great game. Kobe made a nice facial three over George Hill as he just pulled up and nailed it...

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th, the second straight in 2 months. Hope anything unlucky doesn't happen to me. I am tired right now. I want to go to sleep.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

"FINALLY"

FINALLY, Lakers won a road game as they ended three game road slide tonight @ Houston by winning 102-96. Kobe and Ron Artest were talking trash at each other at end of game.

FINALLY, I can go to sleep at my normal time (10:30) as I don't have a test tomorrow and my quiz I studied yesterday.

FINALLY, I get a day off tomorrow from golf. I don't have to play in the match tomorrow.

FINALLY, I had a light day today as practice ended at 3:30. I was able to finish homework in afternoon.

FINALLY, I started on the World WAr I project today. My group and I will finish the script completely tomorrow

Almost FINALLY, I can make an appointment with my counselor. The line is so line. Tomorrow, I'm gonna go get in line rite when snack starts.
So many FINALLY's today...

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I just finished watching the Clippers-Cavaliers game. How did Clippers blow their 19 point 4th quarter lead. It would've been great if the Clippers had won as Cleveland would be 1 game behind Lakers. But it's ok. Too bad Lamar Odom got suspended but Lakers should be cool tomorrow in Houston...

Last night, during the College Planning Night, they said we could take Health online. I never knew that as this summer, I will be going to Philmont, a 11 day 10 night backpacking trip in the mountains of New Mexico. Taking a class online will be a cool experience. I'm contemplating whether or not I should go to a Grand Canyon hiking trip during Spring Break, right in the middle of my birthday. I will think about it some more in the next few weeks.

Also, wht's up about that picture thing? 4 people have IMed me that blank link.

Lakers vs. Portland

Lakers lost up in Portland tonight 111-94. But the bigger story was the on court altercation after Trevor Ariza fouled Portland's Rudy Fernandez hard as he was driving to basketball in third quarter. The video is posted below. I feel that this hard foul was unintentional. You can clearly see that Ariza was going for the ball but missed and hit his head. I hope Ariza doesn't get suspended as is Lamar Odom too as he kind of left the bench a little. It's only one loss and still, the Lakers have best record in NBA at 50-13.

As you know, the LA Lakers are my favorite team. I might so see a game this season, maybe a playoff game. That is only a thought right now.

Gonna keep today's blog short as I have to study for history test on imperialism, nationalism, and Industrial Revolution and a english test.

Good night

Obama, more of my thumb

So our President Obama doesn't memorize his speech in his head. I found out he uses a teleprompter everytime he has a speech and takes it everywhere. When he spoke to congress and during his inaugration, it didn't seem as though he was using a teleprompter. I read this article a few days back. But overall, Obama is a great speaker...

My thumb still hurts right now. Working on my golf swing more today at the driving range, I think I figured out it completely. But my left thumb still hurts. It is extremely sore and I don't know what else to say about it. I can't take any days off...

LOL, what a month it was for NY Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez. He admitted to steriod use on Feb. 7 and now, he will be out 6-9 weeks because of surgery in his hip. Also, the folks at The Lakers Nation made this picture of DJ "Congo Cash" Mbenga. It is hilarious. Look at the picture below...

I love Daylight Savings Time. First day of it today, it felt like summer was here already. I was able to play basketball with friends til about 6:15. These past few days feel like summer in March...

Two weeks into this blog, I felt I was too serious in blogging my first week. I went into the mode of describing things too much. But now, I'm starting to relax even more and talking about things that are going on. Start of a new week tomorrow.

TV shows, my thumb

My left thumb hurts. I hurt it on Jan. 19 playing basketball. It's been off and on since them, sometimes hurting, sometimes not. But its hurting now because I'm putting pressure on it playing golf. I will see how it is the next few days and see what I can do. It's probably a muscle sprain I think.

Today, I watched some TV shows on FOX. Saw COPS which was intersting and mysterious as every case brings you a different approach and situation. COPS is one of the shows that interests me. After COPS, watched America's Most Wanted. It's a bit creepy but I can deal with that. Today's episode was on this guy Ben Bradley, a snowboarder who went missing while going up to the mountains in a hitched hiked car. There was a key clue when someone recognized the backpack he had. It's confusting but thats part of AMW. It's again mysterious and lots of foreshadowing. That is interesting and another great show to watch.

Daylight Savings tonight as we will lose a hour. So it should be almost 12 AM right now. Good night

Friday, March 6, 2009

Easy win tonight for the Lakers as they won number 50 110-90 over the Minnesota Timberwolves @ STAPLES Center. Kobe Bryant is moving up on all-time scoring list as he is #18 now, scoring 23 points tonight. DJ Mbenga, a.k.a. Congo Cash, played great today career high 10 pts, 4 reb, 5 blk. It was nice that no starters played in the 4th quarter. 20 more games left this season,.

Our school has so many sports teams this spring season. 10 in total I think. Today was the spring assembly which all the varsity guys were introduced. Also, the dance drill team put on a incredible performance, the same one they did in open house. That was awesome. I'll see if I can find a video on YouTube soon. But overall, the dance drill team did great today.

This weekend is Daylight Savings Time change as we will lose one hour. It will be great as it will be darker later so I can play with my friends til about 7 now. It is so cold in my house right now. The news said it would be about 40 something degrees.

Manny Ramirez

The LA Dodgers finally signed Manny Ramirez after 4 months as Manny agreed on a 2 year 45 million dollar deal. So he is a done deal and Mannywood will be here this season. I attended a Dodger game in 2007 and 2008 with Manny Ramirez and there was a big difference. It wasn't that exciting in 07 as Dodgers lost in extra innings to NY Mets. But last August 14, went to see Dodgers vs. Phillies game. Dodgers won as every time Manny Ramirez batted, the whole crowd chanted "Manny Manny Manny". They also sold dreadlocks of him which were cool considering it debuted the day we went to Dodger game. It was a totally different atmosphere with Manny Ramirez as the crowd was more into it and mostly Dodgers Baseball was exciting again. Welcome back to LA Manny. The Dodgers will be fun to watch this year again, like the last 2 months of last season.

Rain Rain, I'm In

10th post today...Not bad. So far, blogging is really fun and cool. I don't know how to word this, but I applied for the journalism/news staff for next year and got in. Last year, I applied for this art school without putting much thought and effort and got accepted but I declined. This year, I applied for next year's news staff and today I saw my name on the list along with 3 other freshmen going to sophmores in next year's staff. When they presented in our class, they mentioned how they needed sports writers especially and I said to my self, "That's me right there." They also had other positions that I was interested in such as computer graphic design and photography. So I'm in and next year, it'll be fun being on the news staff. I have a big interest in journalism. That'll be one of my electives for the 09-10 school year. I'm excited.

It rained today and that really caused a lot of change. We were going to do this scavenger hunt around school during MUN on imperialism and we were going to do it on light showers but as we started, the rain started pouring. The rain gave us a punishment today. So instead, we watched the CNN Student News and they talked about this kid who started a "No Cussing Club" in an attempt to stop the use of profanity. Mr. Wat made us a deal that if everyone doesn't cuss till next Friday, we will get rewarded. I don't cuss so it doesn't apply to me that much. Also, I got to rest at home and finish up my homework as golf practice was canceled. Rain, the rain is going away now.

Open House

Open House was tonight. There were performances from the male drill team, pep squad and band and others. I felt the best one was when both drill team combined together and put on a fascinating show as they all dressed in warrior like style. Good job guys! That was one heck of a performance. I also bought some CHS clothing as they were on sale for 2 dollars off. Not bad...

Talked to all of my teachers (actually 4) about this year and next year as we visited the classrooms. I got a good heads up on what classes I will be taking next year as we chatted with the teachers. It was a fun time, my mom got to talk to the teachers. So now I have the plan for the rest of the year and next and will just have to execute it. Open House was a fun night.

Lakers (49-12) beat Memphis Grizzlies @ STAPLES Center 99-89. It was a game that was latino based as Lakers wore "Los Lakers" instead of Lakers. Pretty cool jerseys. Last year, when Lakers played Memphis @ STAPLES, I went to see that game in which Lakers lost 114-111. Kobe had 53 pts and gave us a show but Lakers didn't have Pau Gasol and that wasn't enough. It was a fun game though last March 28.

I Fixed It

I've finally realized what was wrong with my golf swing. At the driving range, I couldn't hit for s%/& today and kept topping or undercutting the ball. I was frustrated. (The cold weather might've had soem interference) But at home, my dad fixed it up and I tried swinging it in the backyard. It worked as I used the practice ball and my form was back to normnal. So I fixed it and I am really starting to get back in my golf form now. That's a good sign.

I'm so happy as I barely had homework tonight. Only had hwk from math (review) and spanish (which I finished in class) For the 1st time this year, I had no homework, 0, from english class. When my friends and I walked into english class, we were all suprised and shocked that we had no homework. Of course, we were all happy. I have math chapter 11 test tomorrow on sequence, series, and probability. I've gotten down the sequence and series as it is only memorizing and using the formula. Still studying the probability and chapter 11...

Happy March

Happy March!!! 1st day of March today. It was a nice relaxing Sunday for me. Sleeping in was awesome. Watched the Lakers-Suns game on ABC in Phoenix in which the Suns beat the Lakers 118-111. Kobe Bryant had 49 pts and Shaq had 33 pts. Shaq doesn't look like he's 36 years old. :( It's okay, Boston lost to Pistons today. So Lakers are 48-12. Not bad after 60 games.

I need to work on my golf swing and improve it and today, I went to the Library to borrow some books on golf swing. I need to work on my woods and driver to drive and hit the ball out farther. I also have to polish up my short game, chipping and putting. I'm still a bit rusty as I haven't played since last November because of basketball. Still getting back into my golf shape. Probably will take another week.
I also studied for my math test on Tuesday. It's on Sequence and Series and Probability. I'm starting to get it.

Start of a new week tomorrow. First week of March.
